We took the train early in the morning from Stockholm to Gothenburg. During the 3-hour journey, Pascal read his e-book and Johanna used the time to sleep and recover from her cold. Gothenburg also welcomed us with rain, so we decided to take a day off at the hostel, chill, and end the evening with pizza. Unfortunately, we ended up in a room without windows, where the air was stagnant. But at least our roommates (an Englishman and a German) were nice.
The next day, Johanna felt a little better with her cold. This allowed us to take a short walk through Gothenburg and get some fresh air. After a delicious breakfast at a café, we walked up a small hill with the outline of a former fortress (Skansen Kronan). Then we walked through the small neighborhood of Haga, with its cute cafés and shops. This neighborhood used to be a slum but has transformed into a beautiful area with its old houses. Unfortunately, it started raining again, so we continued towards the city center, made a quick stop at the local cathedral, and then went to the market hall. There, we strolled through the different market stalls and had a little tea break with pastries. We spent the afternoon at the free natural history museum. In the evening, we continued to rest at the hostel as the rainy Gothenburg weather didn't improve. But hey, at least we survived the low-oxygen hostel room ;)
