30-01-2022: Svolvaer and Northern Lights

Julkaistu: 30.01.2022

We crossed the Arctic Circle during the night. We will have the Arctic Circle ceremony on the way back. In the early morning, we arrived in Svolvaer on the Lofoten Islands. The days are short. The first ray of sunshine reaches us around 08:00 and it is night again by 16:00. Anyway, the storm over the Atlantic has subsided and we have wonderful sunshine today.

We will be taken by buses to the small fishing village of Henningsvaer with 500 inhabitants. The scenery is fantastic. The temperatures are low and the snow is perfect.
The village, like everything here, is completely isolated, surrounded by beautiful nature and with a view of the Lofoten Wall.
After the return journey, we will explore Svolvaer a little bit.
After leaving Svolvaer behind, we pass by the Trollfjord. In winter, it is not possible to navigate into the fjord as it is very narrow and there is a risk of avalanches.
So far, it has already been a perfect day. And then came the Northern Lights. Sensational!
