02-02-2022: Tromsø and Northern Lights

Julkaistu: 03.02.2022

Today we reach Tromsø. With its 70,000 inhabitants, Tromsø is also known as the Arctic capital and is the cultural center north of the Arctic Circle.
The Arctic Cathedral, built in 1965, with its distinctive pointed roof and tall stained glass windows, is the symbol of the city.
The historic city center is located on Tromsø Island and is characterized by its centuries-old wooden houses. Nice shops line the main shopping street. The public life is very calm due to the temperatures.
You can get to the other side of the city via the bridge. There you will find the Arctic Cathedral. You can also take the Fjellheisen cable car to the Storsteinen mountain. From there, the view of the city and surroundings is fantastic.
In this season, the days are still short. It is already getting dark at 2:30 p.m. In the picture you can see the mountain station of the Fjellheisen and below it the part of the city where the Arctic Cathedral is located.
In the evening, we were very lucky to see Northern Lights above the city.
