Day 37: Cape Jervis - Victor Harbor - Kingston SE

Even today, we are not tempted to get up early. Last night, temperatures were slightly milder and we didn't have to pull the blanket over our ears. We could easily get used to that.

Despite the warm morning sun, we decide to have breakfast in the motorhome for the sake of speed. Samuel loves putting his head near our pop-up toaster, so we regularly set off the smoke detector in our motorhome.

Michi and Samuel discover a kangaroo in the tall grass in front of our camper and go on a morning photo tour (Sami has discovered his passion for photography, or rather for the camera - there are often battles between the men for the beloved device). There are several birds at the campsite, mostly cockatoos as almost everywhere. There are also some white cockatoos here, so far we have often seen the pink ones. Before we set off, we use the free Wi-Fi for our blog & co.

We drive to Cape Jervis hoping to see penguins again. Yesterday evening, we saw some in the harbor when we docked with the ferry. Unfortunately, we didn't take the time to observe/photograph them yesterday. They are on the move this morning and unfortunately not to be found. We refuel and start our drive towards the east. If time and the kids allow, we would like to make it to Kingston SE.

We drive the first 60 km to Victor Harbor. The route is very beautiful. Lush green and cows/sheep dominate the landscape. In Victor Harbor, we make a stop for shopping and eating.

We are not sure if we will reach our destination for the day and just drive. The area around the Murray River is also very diverse and we like it. We drive along the Coorong National Park. We imagined this section of the route to be very different (more picturesque and larger towns). The sea is completely brown here and there is also no special smell (that's a nice way to put it). The places mentioned in the travel guide are nothing more than a house with a snack bar and a campsite. We don't want to stay here. We bite the bullet and cover the kilometers to Kingston. The last section reminds us of the Serengeti - miles and miles of nothing but waving dry grass. We finally reach the campsite at 7:30 pm.

We go to the beach to enjoy the sunset. Unfortunately, a few clouds are rolling in and it doesn't turn out to be as spectacular. Back in the motorhome, we cook. We actually wanted to eat lobster (Kingston is known for it), but unfortunately all takeaways around us were already closed.
