It's 18:37 on Sunday evening, August 20th. I'm sitting in the lounge at New York JFK airport. Flo and Marie are probably already sitting at the gate, relaxing before the final flight of our trip. Lufthansa flight LH 405 is scheduled to take us back to Frankfurt at 21:55. We're very excited to feel home under our feet again, but most of all, we're craving noodles, schnitzel, and sparkling water.
Looking back on the past four weeks, I have to say I'm really amazed at everything we've experienced. Starting in Vancouver, which we can barely remember. Continuing into the Nevada desert, stopping at the most unreal places created by nature over millions of years. The cities that offered us rest and refuge along the way ranged from indescribable to no comment. Las Vegas as extremely artificial, and Grand Canyon Village, where we quickly missed the internet. The cities of San Francisco, Los Angeles, and New York at the end couldn't have been more different.
In the last few days on the East Coast, we talked a lot about what we experienced and agreed that we all got through it very well. Of course, there were disagreements here and there, as well as minor health problems, but nothing worth mentioning.
As for me, I'm now saying goodbye to this blog. I enjoyed writing here and informing everyone who was interested about our journey. I'm now enjoying the final two hours in New York with beer and the sunset, and I thank you for reading these digital lines. See you soon in analog.
