Blue Mountains

منتشر شده: 07.01.2018

After our time in the big city, we returned to nature - to the mountains called the "Blue Mountains". These mountains were declared a UNESCO World Heritage site and according to Wikipedia, the name comes from the blue haze that settles over the mountains when the essential eucalyptus oil from the leaves of the eucalyptus tree evaporates.

First, we visited the "Three Sisters". It's a rock formation that you can admire from a viewpoint. Of course, there are always quite a few tourists taking photos at such a place, but we were two of them and joined in. Then we went to the Katoomba Falls - a waterfall. You have the opportunity to take many hiking trails around the sights, which can range from a half-hour round trip to a full day. Since we didn't have much time, we took a shorter path, but still had a wonderful view of the waterfall. In the evening, we found a campsite in the middle of the Blue Mountains and didn't even have to pay for it. We have gotten used to sleeping in our small tent, but the Australians make you really jealous when you see what they bring for a camping holiday.

The next day, we went to the Mount Evan Lookout, where you have a great view of the Blue Mountains. From there, you have the opportunity to take the Grand Canyon Walk, which takes about four hours and is said to be the second best in Australia, according to tourist information. Since I was sick, we decided against it! Also, that day reached 40 degrees 😅.

We continued on to the Wenworth Falls - there are quite a few of them in Australia 😊. Wonderful views of the Blue Mountains and a great waterfall are waiting for you - definitely recommend checking it out!!

After that, we continued our journey south - time flies, only about 1.5 weeks left!!
