After enjoying wonderful weather in Honningsvåg, it turned cold, wet, and stormy during the night. We sailed from Honningsvåg around the North Cape and then headed south again to dock in Loen tomorrow. On the first day at sea, the ship was noticeably moving; now on the second day, the sun is shining again and the sea has calmed down a bit. With some wave action, one can feel that the ship is somewhat smaller than we are used to.
The service here is unbeatable. In our cabin, it creaked a bit during the wave action. We asked if something could be done. Half an hour later, a team rushed in, and while we were on deck, they apparently completely took down and reinstalled the ceiling – and it no longer creaks.
Yesterday was Tommy's birthday, and even when you have coffee somewhere, congratulations are given. Somehow, the staff remembers the names. The cruise director also called and checked in. This was despite him having to put together a replacement show due to the dance group's cancellation. By the way: He is not only a good entertainer but also has apparently received a solid classical vocal training.
So we can have great conversations. After the cooking tips, we can still visit the engine room this afternoon.
Tomorrow we aim to leave Loen as early as possible so that we can embark on the ascent of Mt. Hoven, which is 1011 m high, and then head towards the glaciers.
