Finally - we made it! :)
The past few days have been very exhausting. Until the last day, we worked and spent our free time preparing for the trip.
The daily check of the entry rules was always a suspenseful moment:
What could be introduced at short notice, which could put obstacles in our way?
We left our room in the best WG in Leipzig on Wednesday evening, and on Thursday morning we were taken to the airport by our family. There, we quickly realized how well prepared you really have to be to be allowed to board a plane.
In the check-in line, we waited for about an hour, even though there were only about 10 passengers ahead of us. However, because airport staff had to individually check the entry documents (insurances, COVID tests, etc.) for each traveler, and these documents vary greatly depending on the destination country, this was a very time-consuming experience. Not all passengers had the required papers, barcodes, and whatever else you need to present in different countries - the more discussions took place in front of us, the more nervous I became:
'Did we forget something? Has something even changed overnight?'
But ultimately, none of that was a problem - we were the diligent ones in the line, we had everything we needed, and we were waved through. Check! First hurdle overcome successfully. :)
We then flew from Dresden to Frankfurt and from there directly to San José, Costa Rica. We passed the 12 hours on the plane with movies, TV shows, and the most important culinary highlights from our homeland (including Feldschlösschen Radler and Prinzenrolle).
At the airport in San José, we were welcomed without any issues and received our 90-day visa.
After a total of about 20 hours, we arrived at our first hostel in San José. We will spend the first 4 days here, settle in, explore the city, get an overview of the country, and make plans for the coming months.
