Pumpkin madness

Right next to our campsite, the farmer is planting pumpkins. Specifically, it's pumpkin harvest time right now. This year, it's already in September because of the intense heat in the summer. Pumpkins are ubiquitous in this area. Kasterlee is the village of pumpkin eaters. Every year in October, the mostly orange fruits captivate the community. There's a Belgian championship in pumpkin shooting with giant catapults, a pumpkin day with a craft market, and a pumpkin regatta, a kayak race in huge hollowed-out pumpkins. It's a shame that we're not there in early October to witness the spectacle!
