The day offers everything: rain, sun, rain, and sun. It ends late after a long conversation with our hosts. After visiting a modern supermarket (what a contrast to the markets in Bolivia) and a trip to Lago Azul, we intensively approach the history of German immigrants in the mid-19th century. Sometimes time has actually stood still, as we discover during our visit to the Hotel Haase in Puerto Octay. We only see the Osorno volcano wrapped in clouds. During the drive around Lago Llhanquihue, we feel transported to different regions: Allgäu, Denmark, Tyrol, Schleswig-Holstein. The manager of the museum in Puerto Octay passionately explains the history of German immigrants to us. In the end, it turns out that he is a university professor who has been living in Chile since July 2018 after fleeing by plane from Venezuela.
