I want to dedicate a separate blog article to South Korean cuisine because I think it's just great! We have been eating our way through all the menus over the past few weeks and tried many traditional dishes. I can honestly say that I was only disappointed once, and that was because we thought we had to try cooked pig's feet. Everything else tasted incredibly delicious, and even the spiciest dishes were easily manageable with a beer. My personal favorite food here is Bibimbap, which I have already talked about. Right after that is Budae Jjigae, a spicy stew that comes from the military kitchen, and Korean Barbecue. At K-Barbecue, you order a small selection of raw meat, which is brought to the table and grilled in the middle. The way of eating is a bit reminiscent of raclette. In general, food is often shared here. Often, you order a dish for a certain number of people and then get a large bowl with the portion for everyone placed on the table. Every main course comes with complimentary side dishes, such as Kimchi (fermented cabbage) and Sigeumchi-namul (sweet pickled radish). Water is also easily available, which is great for travelers on a budget. Ordering dessert in a restaurant is rather unusual. If you still feel like having something sweet after the main course, you can simply go to one of the many bakeries or convenience stores. A classic sweet treat is Gukhwappang, a soft bun filled with red bean paste. Korean food is super versatile and has absolutely impressed me! Maybe you got hungry while reading and will try one or the other dish :-)
