2nd day in Edmonton, Alberta

Argitaratu: 04.12.2019

On my second day in Edmonton, I went downtown to see if the city would convince me or if it really had as little to offer as everyone said.

Just like in Calgary, there are pedestrian walkways between buildings in Edmonton that are like a tunnel system. So you can walk from building to building in the city center without having to be out in the wet and cold snow. This is especially good for business people, because wearing a suit with thick winter boots doesn't look very chic ;) I used these connections to warm up from time to time.

I started at the market hall in the Old Strathcona district. The market offered delicious and fresh fruit, as well as meat and fish and bakeries.

On the way to Queen Elizabeth Park, I happened to pass by an intersection where I had a view of the entire skyline.

The High Level Bridge connects Edmonton and Strathcona, which were two separate communities until 1912. Even though the bridge looks old and somewhat unstable, both trains and buses and cars travel over it.

On the other side, I took a walk through the huge Victoria Park and then visited the neighboring Alberta Legislature Building. Since Edmonton is the capital of Alberta, this is the seat of the provincial government.
