Day 3 Gohrisch to Forststeig

Argitaratu: 07.08.2021

Today, on August 3rd, 2021, the sun is shining. I woke up at 7 a.m. and put the tent out in the sun to dry.

My neighbor brought me a cup of coffee and his daughter said goodbye to Tori.

Now I'm continuing on the Malerweg towards the START-Forststeig.

I made some adjustments to my backpack and it's not putting as much pressure on my shoulders anymore.

I found a bakery in Gohrisch. 3 sandwiches and 1 cappuccino for 5.20 euros. Cheap here.

After climbing Papstein, 451 meters high, I fortified myself with a lentil stew and a cool beer. The view from up here is beautiful.

On my way down from Papstein, it started raining. Then there was thunder and lightning, so I took shelter under an umbrella near Gaststätte Liethenmühle in Krippen.

My shoulders are hurting. It's not the backpack adjustment, it's the weight of it.

It's so heavy that I can't lift it as easily as before. I've given it the name: The BEAST.

Walking around all day alone with my dog is quite something.

What do I think about:
Where is the nearest post office so I can send some of the contents of the BEAST back home?
Where is a bank? I only have a 200 euro note and I would like to have it changed.

I continue on to Krippen and then Reinhardtsdorf. And another hill. I'm exhausted. Time for a break and take off the backpack. Now it's raining again, it's been a while.

In Reinhardtsdorf, there is a bank and a hiking rest area. The bank used to be there and the rest area is closed, no successor in sight. You can rent or buy it.

Great, I wanted to refill my water supply here, but it's running low. And it seems like I'm walking at the end of the world. There's nothing here except a few houses.

I definitely won't make it to Schöna today. Besides, there is no bivouac or camping site there.

Then I ask Dr. Google and what do I see: there is a lake with a forest in about 1 km, so I'll refill my water and spend the night by the lake.

That's what I'll do.

Lesson of the day:
Don't take big bills with you and don't pack the backpack so full.
