This night was all about sleep. Since the train tracks were behind us, we heard the huge long freight trains passing by occasionally at night. We once tried to count the wagons and came up with over 150. Fortunately, they didn't turn on their loud signal tone. It also rained occasionally at night, which could be heard as loud droplets on the wagon roof. In the morning, we had a cozy breakfast in the RV and watched the many little bunnies hopping around outside. By now the sun was also shining.
Then we left Canmore and drove on the bypass road of Hwy 1A - the Bow Valley Trail, heading east towards Calgary. The route wasn't very exciting. We left the mountains and it became flatter. After a short time, we reached the Bow Valley Provincial Park - Kananaskis. Here we drove to the Bow Valley Campground. Luckily, we got a vacant site with electricity. The campground is very beautifully located, with sites right on the Bow River, lots of trees and fire pits. After we had fortified ourselves in the RV, it had also gotten warmer, Pauline, Anne and I wanted to explore the Bow River and strolled along the path along the shore. We could also see the many sites of the campground and admired huge RVs and campers. Some were already making their fire and grilling at noon. On the way, we circled the entire campground. Then we went through the forest to the lake and then back to the RV. Along the way, we collected small pieces of wood for a fire in the evening.
In the afternoon, the kids decided to take a shower and since Pauline had already walked through the entire campground with us, she decided to take Marie there. Anne and I sat relaxed in our camping chairs and read. Then a thunderstorm slowly approached and we retreated into the RV. Anne started to prepare dinner. We were just considering picking up the kids from the showers when Pauline, completely out of breath and soaked from the rain, stood in front of the door. They had been gone for over an hour by now. She said that they had gotten lost and Marie was waiting in a small toilet house. We quickly stowed everything away for transport, unplugged the power cord and drove off to find Marie. After what felt like an eternity and after almost 10 toilet houses, we found Marie with her broken flip-flops, who was very angry with Pauline. We then went to the showers and everyone was able to shower. After another hour, we finally returned to our site, parked, plugged in the power and were able to have dinner. The thunderstorm had also passed and the rain had stopped. So I finally had the chance to burn our last pieces of wood at the fire pit. It became a crackling bonfire, the girls grilled the last marshmallows, and we drank our last bottle of wine.
