12th day: a lot has happened in the last two days. We were supposed to start working on Monday. However, the entire public transportation declared a 24-hour strike, so we couldn't start our project. In Brazil, no one has to work and classes are canceled as well. It was annoying, but ultimately no one was to blame. Instead, we went to a mall and I finally got my mobile internet. 👍🏻 Today, we were finally supposed to start. But guess what... they canceled again without giving us a reason.😡 I was so angry and about to contact AIESEC Germany to complain. But since they probably couldn't have changed much about the situation on-site, I decided to wait for a statement from the responsible people here. It finally came late in the evening. They informed us that the organization canceled our project and we can't work there at all. 😱 I was shocked because I was afraid of sitting around doing nothing for the next 5 weeks. However, they offered us an alternative project that is supposed to start tomorrow (but I'll only believe it when it happens). The first impression of the organization (thanks to Google!) is very good. So keep your fingers crossed that we finally have some luck and can start tomorrow! Since we didn't want to waste the day, we visited Projeto Tamar today, a sea turtle rescue center. After that, we went to a breathtaking viewpoint where we had a view of the entire city. We also encountered an iguana 🦎, who was chilling in the grass and didn't care about the crowds of people around him. Today, we also met a new volunteer (from Germany - no surprise there), who is now staying with André. Her name is Carolin, she comes from Regensburg, and she's also very nice. After a delicious dinner at a nice restaurant, we went back home. Hopefully, I can finally tell you about my work tomorrow. Until then, good night! 💤
