Wanderlust in El Chaltén

This small, colorful village is the starting point for numerous hikes in the Parque National Los Glaciares. Hikers come here to see the mountain scenery of Fitz Roy and explore the numerous routes around the mountain. Fitz Roy is one of the main attractions for all mountaineers in Patagonia, along with Torres del Paine.

Upon our arrival, we were informed by the tourist information that the weather forecast wasn't very good. But we didn't lose hope and waited.

And it stormed and rained and stormed. The wind was so strong that we were advised not to climb one of the peaks. It was too dangerous. So the hostels were full of backpackers, all waiting for better weather. On one of the days, the wind cleared the sky and we finally caught a glimpse of the mountain, albeit from the valley - but we saw it!
