Hello dear ones,
It's time for the first post in our travel blog about our three-month trip through Southeast Asia. We have finished the exhausting journey plus the first stop in Bali. We are still in the adjustment phase. Adjusting to the time difference, overcoming the hardships of the journey, the climate, living without a female boss by our side, and without you. We also experienced our first tourist scam during the first taxi ride from the airport to the hotel, paying three times the usual fare. Oops. But as you know, we learn from our mistakes. Legian is located slightly north of the airport on the west coast of Bali. It is part of the 'party spot' of the island, along with Seminyak and Kuta. It is extremely touristy and feels a bit like Mallorca, but with Asian decor and food. The weather has been consistently beautiful, around 30 degrees Celsius and sunny. It occasionally rains in the evenings, and when it does, it feels like being in a steam room. In the end, Legian wasn't that beautiful. The beach was nice. There are plenty of shops. There are many small boutiques, tattoo studios, spas on every corner, a huge shopping center, and at every corner, someone approaches you with offers of transportation, massage, etc., followed by questions like ladies, cocaine.... The best thing about the place was probably the hotel. I don't think we'll be able to maintain that standard. Food is cheap everywhere, and so far we have paid between 3-6€ per person. Everything is delicious. We haven't dared to try the street food stalls yet. Nothing is more expensive than 3€ there.
Currently, we are at our second stop in the south of the island in the town of Jimbaran. But more on that in next week's post.
Greetings from Bali to our homeland!!
