As suspected, the second day in Dali was quite leisurely. After a late breakfast, we went to the city park to read and observe people. We sat among several grandparents who were waiting for their grandchildren to come out of school. They had lunch for the kids and themselves. At 11:30 a.m., the school children came out of school and received their lunch, played cards or other games. A beautiful atmosphere!
Afterwards, we visited the three pagodas of Dali: they were built in the 9th century in the Bai ethnic style, the tallest pagoda is almost 70m high. The entrance fee is ridiculously high and you can't get a very close look at the pagodas. Therefore, we decided not to enter and walked around the area to get a good view of the pagodas.
In the afternoon, some planning was necessary for our stay in Lijiang and the hike in the Tiger Leaping Gorge. The hotel surprised us with homemade dumplings and rose wine (since we are on our honeymoon), which we enjoyed in the beautiful courtyard.
However, we were not too sad to leave Dali. It is just too touristy and small. As a Western tourist, you also have to be careful not to be ripped off... We were a bit unsure if Lijiang (our next stop) would be very similar.
