Almost 2 weeks on the Île de RéGood food, sun, beach, SUP, sunsets, cycling, what more could you want?We were at this fantastic campsite in La Couarde-Sur-Meer last year. Here you have everything you need. The sea behind the dune with a fantastic beach, the town with a market hall, supermarket, restaurants etc. around the corner and the starting point for bike tours to all places on the island. The weather has been playing along since this week and we are extending our stay for the 2nd time and will then drive straight home from here. We cycled a lot this week and covered over 250 km in total (because we kept getting lost). We were in ARS-en Ré, went through the nature reserve and the salt marshes to Le Portes-en-Ré. We were in Saint Martin-de-Ré, La Flotte, Rivedoux-Plage, Sainte Marie-de-Ré, Le Bois Plage-en-Ré, basically all over the island. The cycle paths are very well developed, the towns are all tranquil with lovely markets (every small town has a market hall with fish, vegetables etc. and a market. However, only in the morning, which doesn't stop the French from drinking a bottle or two of wine in the morning. The range and quality of the food is extremely good, so we eat really well every day. We also went to our favourite French restaurant again and enjoyed a delicious 3-course meal. We had fun days and evenings with a lovely camping acquaintance and the odd bottle of rosé was destroyed. As we cancelled our last stop in Champagne in favour of 2 more days by the sea, we did a private champagne tasting with sunset on the last evening. Saturday morning was cloudy and light rain, unfortunately today we are going home. The weather makes it easier for us to say goodbye. We certainly won't be here for the last time.
