9th day of the dream tour

Off to Cinque Terre, hiking. 👩‍🦯. By train past Carrara, the city of marble that is processed from large blocks everywhere. Get off at Manarola- the first highlight of the day, you get off the train and look directly at the sea. The sun also takes pity and comes out of the clouds.

Since I am not an experienced hiker, I take the bus to Volastra and start my W3g there at the small church to Corniglia. It goes through vineyards, over scree paths, through olive groves and through real forest, thank God I have my poles with me, which are very helpful.

I have to stop over and over again to enjoy the incomparable views, it is so beautiful up here in nature almost 600 m above the sea and just listen to the wind. At this time of year, there are not many hikers yet, I have the birds, the bees and the geckos almost to myself.

Tips: until May the hiking trails are free of charge and the train ride from one place to the next only costs 2.40 instead of 5 euros. So you also save the Cinque Terrecard, which otherwise costs 18.20 for train and hiking trails and which you don't need in March.

On this day, I walked over 1000 steps, alone in Corniglia from the top down to the Stazione there are 370!

Continue by train to Vernazza, the supposedly most beautiful village. I find the other two much prettier, Vernazza clearly shows signs of aging, the plaster is peeling off everywhere and entire walls of houses are damaged. What a pity.

But there is a chip stall with fish and chips, etc. After all the pizza and pasta, an absolute highlight. And the best lemon ice cream I have ever eaten.

Completely exhausted, taking the train back to Viareggio via La Spezia. Tomorrow is a day off😉🤦‍♀️👍
