What a day! Delighted by the flora and fauna, but with blisters and aching backs, we waddled to our hotel today. After not even 5 hours from Limone over the Col de Tende to Tende, we are now a bit exhausted. Apart from the shocking Italian hiking culture (driving up to the pass by car, 'hiking' for 5 minutes, taking summit photos, and driving back by car), we missed the hiking competition today. Nevertheless, we were not alone on the way. We (well, Anna) were accompanied by annoying and musically untalented flies and numerous cute fluffy and bored marmots. These animals also provided some occupational therapy for our dear Vera, who endlessly tried to take a sharp picture of the marmots. Unfortunately, without much success (see above).
This night we don't even have to set up our bed alone, but our room also has its pitfalls: it is on the second floor, so you have to climb TWO whole stairs. Oops..
And yes, Manfred enjoyed the ascent with a magnificent view. But on the descent, there were some turbulences for him. His choice of location was stupid, namely hanging freely and above all swinging on the backpack. He had to empty his stomach for a moment. He is feeling better now. Poor Manfred.. But now he can show off his summit photos to his stork colleagues.
Conclusion of the day: Marmots are mega ultra cute and cows have a really tough life with these damn flies around their heads. So, calling out to all farmers: Buy the cows AntiBrumm instead of soy from South America!!!
