La Dehesa De Abajo is a small "protected area" that belongs to the Doñana National Park. Actually a destination for locals with a garden restaurant and unfortunately too much trash and human traffic. Nevertheless, countless white storks and even flamingos can be admired here. At night you can hear the owl calling and the toads croaking. With awe, we did our rounds at dawn, let the first coffee be made in the still empty restaurant, and then set off before the first excursionists.
In Cadiž we met the Atlantic again, but had to skip our visit to the city. Carnival is also celebrated in Spain and the whole city was on the move and no parking space could be found. Therefore, we visited our destination, the Torre de la Peña campsite, about 6 km west of Tarifa. Here too, surprisingly busy with vacationers, winter visitors, surfers, or other cold refugees, so we were lucky to get a free spot.
Here will now be our base for this and possibly next week.
