Day 9 - Addo Elephant Park

Today we are going to see the elephants. We are very excited. After about 3 hours, lots of scenery, the ugly industrial town of Uithage, and some townships on both sides of the road, we arrived. We also did some shopping in Uithage, at a mini Spar shop. At first glance, this place and the surroundings didn't seem soooo trustworthy, but on closer inspection it wasn't so bad. It's just different and there are many black people around. And since we have been warned that we have to be careful, we sometimes behave like timid animals, but actually everyone has been super nice and friendly so far. We were even allowed to use the toilet at the Spar shop because we had been on the road for another two hours. Anyway, we stocked up on water, wine, and Amarula because we didn't really know what to expect at Addo Park. By the way, it has been raining the whole time. Just lightly, not a big deal, but it has been raining from morning until we arrived at the elephant park. Not great. We didn't want a rain safari.
