Plants about plants

Argitaratu: 05.03.2017

On Thursday we started the day with a cozy breakfast (as in most hostels there was tea and coffee, toast and jam) and then took the bus to the botanical garden. This time, however, we were prepared for the icy cold that awaits you in the fully air-conditioned buses and wrapped ourselves in our thickest scarves.

After applying a hefty dose of mosquito repellent, we were ready to go. The garden covers 60 hectares and is home to over 3,000 tropical plant species. The garden is divided into several areas (such as the Evolution Garden or the Orchid Garden). I particularly liked a piece of untouched rainforest that you can walk through on a wooden footpath.

The botanical gardens are also a popular photo spot for wedding shoots. During our tour, we were able to watch three couples posing for their wedding photos.

In the afternoon, we continued to Orchard Road, the most famous shopping street in Singapore. Here you will find countless shopping temples, one bigger than the other. All major fashion houses such as Dior or Versace are represented. So not really within our price range... Since we also failed to get an affordable coffee there, we took a short bus ride back to the old man with the delicious tea for 1 Singapore dollar in the Arab Quarter. There you know what you're getting! :-)

Surprisingly, during the subsequent shopping spree, I found several pairs of pants in a small shop that were long enough for my legs! Almost impossible in tall Germany! I always like Asia more! ;-)
