After a very short night, Peter and I were allowed to take a special shuttle to the downhill track at 6.15 am. With our cameraman, we unsuspectingly boarded the eight-seater gondola. Just before the outer door closed, a handsome man entered the gondola. It quickly became clear to us that this was Aksel Lund Svindal . A lively conversation ensued in the gondola.
The training could then be completed on the original track. The wind gates, which were supposed to guide the drivers over easier terrain during jumps, were not needed.
It was a bit sad for the Swiss today that only three drivers were left for one remaining starting position. I felt sorry for Janka and Küng, who had to jump off the cliff. The great disappointment was written all over their faces. On the other hand, Beat Feuz attacked today's training with full throttle, but he skied the last few gates upright. He said to his supervisor at the finish line: "I have no power left". Let's hope he was bluffing again and will win a medal as one of the favorites.
At the finish line, I was able to talk to the Swiss supervisors, the head race chief of Head and the Japanese finish line chief of Fis - really cool ;-)
