06:00 Departure, 06:40 Arrival at the Venue. It looks promising. Beautiful sunshine and the wind is relatively calm. But when we arrived at the top, we saw a different picture. The wind was blowing fiercely against us. No race again? We hoped not. The inspection today was not easy, the favorites all came early and practically slid through without stopping at the trainers. At the finish line, we learned from our installers that the start will be at the reserved start and they are already setting it up. A few minutes later, the FIS officially announced it. We transmitted the inspection footage to the control room and we were now prepared for the showdown. The wind conditions in the lower section are quite favorable. Finally, the first race can start. The turnout of spectators was not very impressive, but some excitement still arose.
The slalom skiers now have a clear advantage. In such a short downhill (about 1'20"), they don't lose much time.
About 15 minutes after the last skier crossed the finish line, we continued with the slalom inspection. I just managed to ride up with the chairlift and hand over the inspection camera to the cameraman. The inspection went smoothly - we got all the favorites on camera. But the slope was challenging, quite steep and with bumps. I would even say it was icy.
In the finish area, it became increasingly crowded in the coaching zone. It was sometimes very difficult to get through. After Dressen, who had led after the downhill, crossed the finish line, the interest in the skiers still waiting at the start was minimal, everyone focused on the medal winners.
In the evening, the installation crew went to the Chickeria and, as the crowning finale, had a beer at the House of Switzerland.
