Day 34: UNESCO World Heritage Daintree National Park

Our excursion today takes us to Daintree National Park, the oldest rainforest in the world, older than the Amazon, and of course a UNESCO World Heritage site. Here too there are many activities to choose from.

We drive our campervan across the ferry and admire the landscape at the boardwalks. These are developed short circular hiking trails, just right in the heat and with my cold. The sound of unknown animals alone is an experience. We see colorful birds and chickens, a meter-long lizard and an eel.

The beaches here are fantastic. Unfortunately, there is a warning sign for crocodiles at every single one. You shouldn't even walk along the water's edge. There is also a warning for jellyfish. If there is a jellyfish attack, the vinegar is ready.

Cape Tribulation is the place where Captain Cook's ship ran aground on the reef. We envy those travelers who can continue north with their 4wd vehicles on unpaved roads and rivers. Next time we'll do that too. This time we drive back with the campervan.
