The wake-up call went as in the previous days, and promptly at 08:30 we appeared in the 'Breakfast-Room'. In addition to nutritious things like Grit, Cinnamon Rolls and cheesy Omelette, there were Pancakes from a machine. Aaron was obsessed with this device and could only be forcibly removed from breakfast.
After another short stop in outlet heaven, we headed towards Acadia National Park. After an hour's drive on the highway, we reached the section of road that passes along the coast. Incredibly beautiful fjords and river mouths alternate with dense forests. Almost like the Emscher beach. Almost...
We only interrupted the drive at one beach for a picnic and at a bridge with an adjoining fortress (Fort Knox, Maine).
The bridge is about 160 meters high and has an observation deck in one of its pylons.
The fort guarded the mouth of the Penobscot River, was built for a fortune before the American Civil War and then never used. The descendants of the planners of this fort are currently building the Berlin airport..
Here we also had to realize that the cuts in the American health system are dramatic. There was a medical emergency at the fort, and the dispatched ambulance surprised us a lot.
At around 5:00 pm, we reached our hotel in Bar Harbor. Thank God with a pool! Aaron was already close to madness because he couldn't go into the water on vacation yet.
After the pool visit, we went to beautiful but completely crowded Bar Harbor, the gateway to Acadia National Park.
Here we had lobster for the first time! Very delicious!
Since we are naturally lazy and also afraid of injuring ourselves while cracking lobster, we ordered the 'Lazy Lobster'. It was already broken for us in the kitchen, but still very tasty...
