Alghero and Neptune's Grotto

Argitaratu: 02.08.2022

Today I got the kids out of bed a little earlier to drive to the west coast of Sardinia with them. It took 2 hours and led through the greener inland, where there are even real trees. Our east coast is rather rocky, bushy with lots of oleander and rosemary bushes. We also drove through a landscape near Sassari, where there must have been terrible forest fires.

Arriving in the beautiful Alghero, where there were beautiful palm trees on the beach promenade (like in Los Angeles, Levi said), we booked the ferry ride to Neptune's Grotto, which was about 30 minutes away by ship.

The boat docked directly at the entrance to the cave, so we saved ourselves the dizzying 654 steep steps in the midday heat.

We were very impressed with the approximately 2 km long path through the stalactites and stalagmites and the underground lake.

Back at the port of Alghero, we strolled through the idyllic narrow streets of the old town, visited the Cathedral di Santa Maria, and admired the huge elephant trees on the waterfront.

Unfortunately, it was too late for the Spiaggia, instead the children were allowed to eat pizza for the first time in Sardinia, which was really cheap and delicious.
