What has happened so far:
In search of a suitable career entry and confirmation that we can make a positive impact with medical technology, we have decided on a great project and the adventure in Paraguay!... Or was it Uruguay, no wait, Panama!.. After a lot of back and forth with the embassy and little with the employer, we will soon be part of the EquiPo at Po Paraguay! More on that later.. (Cliffhanger, the)
Paraguay - who or what is that actually, and why are you going there?? We didn't really know who or what that was either. Here's what we found out:
6.7 million inhabitants are spread over an area equivalent to that of Germany and Switzerland combined.
Approximately 540,000 of them live in Asunción, the capital city, where - apparently - our future employer and accommodation with a friend are located. Incidentally, anecdotes suggest that you can achieve a lot with bribery. The largest tourist attraction, the Iguazu Falls, is actually just beyond the border. There is a second official language that happens to have the same name as the highly inflationary currency of the country: Guarani (example: ndaikuaaporãi ava ñ~e'
ẽ - I can't speak Guarani well, but it should be noted that
ã and
ẽ are pronounced nasal here).
And: the Paraguayans are among the happiest people in the world!
All in all, one can say that we took each other's hand and then made a big splash into unknown waters.
Off to Paraguay!
After a turbulent flight through the storm, hours in the stationary airplane, missed flights, lost luggage, and an unplanned detour to Peru, we finally arrived in Paraguay after only 30 hours!
So, it will be exciting to see what awaits us here! One thing is for sure, we were greeted with incredible friendliness and kindness!
