Day 18 - Hamburg

Argitaratu: 05.09.2016

When I woke up in the morning, it was already nine o'clock. Surprisingly late considering we slept in the car. A stabbing pain on the right side confirmed the uncomfortable position. After a coffee, we headed to Hamburg. Spontaneously, we booked the first and cheapest hotel we found. Upon arrival, we parked in a dead-end street and were already impressed by our neighborhood. Tall buildings with walls covered in graffiti. We entered the entrance hall of the Hotel Budapester Hof and were immediately handed the keys and shown to our room - a small bungalow! By chance and a lot of luck, we had once again found a super great accommodation.

After unpacking, we set off to explore the city. Our hotel was located in the St. Pauli neighborhood, which we really liked. Even now, on my second visit to Hamburg, I am enthusiastic about the city. It is one of the coolest cities in my opinion. We briefly watched the many ships at the harbor and then went in search of a restaurant. Our original plan was to go shopping, but it was already six o'clock and we would have had an hour's walk to the city center. So we settled for going out to eat really well. Especially to make up for the culinary deficit from yesterday (canned food).

In the Speicherstadt, we found an Asian restaurant right by the water. Wok and beer - a good way to live. Afterwards, we enjoyed the sunset and walked back to our bungalow. Now I'm sitting outside, typing our days into the laptop. The automatic lights turn off every thirty seconds, which makes Jessica and me shake our arms vigorously every thirty-five seconds. The block next to us provides entertainment, as a bunch of men, slightly intoxicated, sing German patriotic songs. A nice end to today.
