Since we had a wonderful time at the Grand Bahia Principe El Portillo in the Dominican Republic two years ago, we decided to stay loyal to the hotel or hotel chain in Mexico this time as well.
I was overjoyed when I finally picked up Rami from the airport in Cancun on May 7th. After about 1.5 hours drive, we reached the huge hotel complex, which consisted of a total of 4 hotels. Fortunately, we found out over time that we were staying at the best of the 4 (right by the sea, white sandy beach, turquoise blue sea, best buffet). Our hotel was called Grand Bahia Principe Akumal. Of course, we also visited the other hotels and spent 14 endlessly and incomparably wonderful days enjoying delicious food in great themed restaurants (Japanese, gourmet cuisine, Mexican, seafood, Mediterranean cuisine, Italian to name just a few), incredibly delicious desserts, excursions with our little rented car (Thanks Isabell 💙) and finally being able to be together again. I have to admit that I missed that a lot during the time I was traveling alone.
We took a tour to the nearby Sian Kaan Nature Reserve, snorkeled in the coral reef, saw dolphins and stingrays as well as giant turtles, and went swimming in the natural swimming pool. We also went shopping in Cancun and visited the most boring city in the world - Valladolid.
We swam in 2 underground cenotes (wow, that was impressive) and visited the ruins of Tulum and Ek Balam.
I'm a bit sad that our planned whale tour, swimming with the whale sharks, didn't work out, but that's nature and you can't predict when and where the giants of the sea will appear.
Today is our last evening together here in Mexico. We ordered 1kg of lobster, drink champagne, and watch the Lion King show from the hotel. What a dreamy 2 weeks ❤
For us, a vacation that will definitely stay in our minds forever. Thank you for the time we spent together, my Lumi, I will miss you like crazy and I will count the days until we are together again. 💏
