This morning, surprisingly, the hotel manager came to us and said that we could move back to our old apartment. We were very happy about that because everything was quite inconvenient in the small apartment. I had to leave quickly because the next residents were already waiting. We were actually supposed to stay there until Monday.
Nothing unusual happened today. After our visit to the restaurant, we went to Decathlon and then back to our apartment.
When I was reading Harry Potter to the children in the evening, we're already in the fifth book, suddenly my throat started itching and my eyes began to tear up. I knew it had to be because of the mold. So I searched everything thoroughly. At some point, I took off the bed covers and saw that the duvets and pillows were completely moldy. I immediately threw the things out on the balcony. It was too late to get new duvets and covers, but luckily we have our sleeping bags, which I always use anyway because there is no clean bedding in India. And after I coincidentally saw how the bedding is washed, I prefer my sleeping bag anyway. It looks like this: the laundry is thrown into a gigantic tub filled with foam, and a man with rolled-up pants and bare feet stomps around on the mass. Then it is hung on a line to dry. When the laundry is dry, it is laid on the dirty floor.
Actually, since Nepal, my requirements for a room have dropped so much that the only thing that matters to me is not having mold. But here in Goa, it doesn't seem possible. The really beautiful Portuguese-style houses all look like they survived a fire. But upon closer inspection, you can see that they are infested with mold.
Anyway, it was better afterwards and we could sleep peacefully.
