Today we will take the 8:30 am bus to Zagreb. In addition to our travel trio, Scott from Australia will also be traveling with us, but he will take the train to Budapest directly from Zagreb.
In Zagreb, we have booked the Swanky Mint Hostel, which is awarded as the best hostel in Croatia. It is located very centrally and is in close proximity to the marketplace. There is a market on this day where regional and homemade products are sold. I try various oils, pesto, and jam and use up most of my last kunas.
In the afternoon, Sunil, Taylor, and I meet again for the Free Walking Tour. Luka, our guide, takes us through the interesting old town of Zagreb. The city is quiet and somehow has something unique. Luka also gives us an insight into the history. Hard to imagine that there was a war here 25 years ago.
On Luka's recommendation, we eat traditional Štrukli at "La Štruk". The dish reminds a bit of lasagna and is served with different fillings (sweet or savory) and topped with cheese. I have the Blueberry Štrukli and they taste fantastic. Also perfect to warm up in the now autumn temperatures.
In the evening, we sit in the hostel bar. It's my last evening in Croatia, but I'm so tired that I have to check out relatively early.
