The night is calm and we sleep wonderfully. Unfortunately, the rain continues in the morning and we drink our coffee in the campsite bar, right next to the roaring fireplace. Then we pack everything up and head back to the coast. We leave Cantabria and reach the region of Asturias. We drive through the mountains for a while and soon we're back by the sea. By chance, we arrive at the village of Perlora near Candás and find a very beautiful spot right on a small cliff overlooking the sea... hoping that no storm comes by here...!
The owner is incredibly friendly and the sanitary facilities are one of the most beautiful we have seen in a long time. Everything is made of marble and the floor is made of large natural stones. And while doing the dishes, you can look out the window and see the waves crashing, lovely!
We enjoy the sun and watch the waves crashing against the rocks. On the other side of the bay, there are quite a few surfers in the water and the seaweed mafia cleans the beach until late in the evening. In the afternoon, we take a walk along the coast. Along the way, we pass many abandoned houses and we keep wondering what used to be here... later on, we find out that this used to be a huge holiday resort for workers, supported by the trade union, but those times are long gone and it's quite surreal to walk through an abandoned town with its own church and assembly hall.
In the evening, we're back in the bus... the rainmakers are here... doesn't matter! We make a delicious salad and eat fresh bread. The evening is as usual short and we go to bed early.
The night is a bit noisy again, it's windy and the drops are pounding on the roof, but by no means a storm... good.
The meadow in front of the bus has turned into a chocolate fountain by now... mmmhhh... delicious! The dog could have had diarrhea right in front of the bus, and no one would have noticed...!
We also have to make coffee in the bus, but it tastes just as good as usual...! We hang out in the bus for a while. It only rains briefly, so we can stand outside with the coffee pot. We meet Röbi, also known as Don Roberto, and Silvia from Switzerland. They have been on the road since 2017 and live exclusively in their refrigerator, which is very cozy. In the meantime, they occasionally return to Switzerland and visit their family, but most of the time they are on the road exploring Europe... good plan!
In the early afternoon, we take a walk to the town of Candás and walk up to the lighthouse. The weather is at its best and the sun is out, very good... just what we needed!
We stroll through the town and coincidentally meet our Swiss neighbors. Since we all want coffee, we sit down at a bar shortly afterwards, drink coffee and beer, and have a very nice chat. Röbi and Silvia are smart and leave a bit earlier than us (they also come back dry), because half an hour later it starts pouring. Even though we had already paid and wanted to leave, we decided to wait for the heavy rain...! Then we put on our rain capes... I had to wear lilac again... and off we go. We quickly buy some bread and then head back to the bus, pronto! We prepare a delicious salad, listen to Spanish radio, and make ourselves comfortable in the bus. The next day, we will continue towards Foz, as the famous Playa de Las Catedrales, a beach with a special coastal formation, is nearby.
