After a long celibacy of cultural abstinence, the two of us recently enjoyed a ballet performance. With their choreography of bodies, the dancers told a story that has been moving humanity since the Greeks and touched my heart as well. In the stone ruins of a castle, young bodies hopped from wall to wall and enchanted us with the language of their twitching bodies. Unlike me, these grasshoppers have no extra pounds, and in addition to the six-packs, we were fascinated by the muscle memory of the dancers. We followed millions of random movements with our eyes, which the dancers reproduced synchronously and still smiling.
The story was about King Arthur, who was called to the Round Table. He was completely overwhelmed by the responsibility of leading his subjects from now on. For over an hour, he wrestled with his dark side and was attacked from behind by doubt. Both were embodied very physically by two dancers in pyjama pants. His loyal friend Sir Lancelot and his beloved Lady Guinevere always saw the leader in Arthur and felt his inner strength. Those of you who know the Arthurian legends also know that the oh-so-noble Lancelot betrayed his boss Arthur with Guinevere. But unfortunately, that was not danced. In the end, Arthur wrestled down his doubts and demons with sweat and finally accepted his calling as the boss of the group.
In this medieval castle with medieval music, the theme moved me as a middle-aged man. Taking responsibility. Being able to give a reasonable answer to one's actions. Just because the majority in society shouts the same unreasonable stuff, doesn't mean that I have to give the same shitty answer. Even people who always see themselves as victims do not take responsibility for their lives because they do not give their own reasonable answer to their current situation. I believe that only when we have the courage to give our own answers, we begin to realize our dreams. But this always comes at a price, and we must then live with the consequences upright like a noble knight or a brave Amazon. When Arthur took care of the government affairs, Lancelot, this scoundrel, fooled around with Guinevere. Well, we can't have everything...
However, one thing should be mentioned in my wise-ass text. A friend associates "responsibility" with having control over others, which makes sense in her profession as a social pedagogue. Since all people are prejudiced and limited by their experiences, this text is also strongly influenced by my world. I hope it still entertained you.
