Christmas is coming soon.

Argitaratu: 07.12.2016

Today is Isabella's birthday and we got a rain-free day, so we can enjoy the day to the fullest. It's only two weeks until Christmas. I'm not really in the Christmas spirit yet, but how could I be with temperatures of 20-30 degrees. Unfortunately, there is hardly any Christmas decoration here and we couldn't get an Advent calendar. They do exist in New Zealand, but they are not as common, so they were quickly sold out. On the 17th, we have a Christmas party at work at Roosters (a small bar in Hastings that brews its own beer). The work is quite hard, as we work 9.5 hours a day, 6 days a week. Usually, we have a barbecue with everyone on Saturday, and on Sunday, everyone takes some time to relax. Since I am currently living day by day, time flies incredibly fast. In a few weeks, the thinning season will be over and we will move on, leaving our little family behind. However, by Christmas, I will have already been in New Zealand for 3 months, and although I thought at the beginning that I would be happy then because I only have 6 more months until I can go home, now I don't want to go back at all. Of course, I miss many people and some things about Germany, like the unchlorinated tap water, but my life here is just different, freer and less tied down, and I really like that. In the 3 months I have been here, I have become more mature, more open and above all more relaxed through all the experiences, people and the different lifestyle, because I realized that I don't always have to plan everything, but should enjoy the moment.
