freshman orientation

Argitaratu: 22.02.2022

In part, I found out the day before yesterday whether I was accepted into the module and how and when it will take place, but somehow everything worked out. Most of the modules are still online this month. On Wednesday, however, I was told that one module would take place on campus, so it was my first official day at school. After sitting in the lecture for 10 minutes, the majority announced in class that they would cancel the Thursday lectures and we would have to come back tomorrow. But since I had a meeting in the afternoon to get my Finnish ID code (apparently, exchange students have to do this), I could wait at school for 3 hours. Luckily, I saw some of the Argentinians I know in the cafeteria and could hang out with them for a while. Around lunchtime, they showed the Olympic cross-country skiing on a giant screen in the cafeteria. PS: Finland is very student-friendly; the cafeteria food here costs less than 3 euros with a student card, and almost all shops offer student discounts. Plus, there is something like a student culture here, where every student gets overalls and each department has a different color, and if you participate in activities, you get a badge that you can attach. Apparently, there is also a party in the fall where everyone dresses up. It's a bit of a shame that there aren't such things in Switzerland.
