The past few days have been quite turbulent.
Last weekend, I was out and about in the city with another German. We spontaneously decided to attend a football game. Typically North American, it was less about the game itself and more about eating popcorn, pizza & wings, watching the cheerleaders, and participating in contests. At some point, a man approached us and asked if we wanted to participate in such a contest. Since it was free, I agreed. 5 minutes later, I was standing with him at the sidelines of the field, and about 35,000 people saw me on the giant video screen at BC Place Stadium. I won the simple game and received a $100 gift card from a Canadian café chain. A football jersey with my name on it is also supposed to arrive in the next few days.
Impressed by this experience, we enjoyed the rest of the game.
Shortly afterwards, a person from Frankfurt checked into my hostel room. We hit it off right away, and it quickly turned out that we have mutual friends in Frankfurt.
With him, I explored Vancouver's nightlife in the past few days. We also took care of the alcohol serving license required here.
It was a nerve-wracking affair that took about four hours.
My trial work at the café was an interesting and helpful experience in terms of work life in Vancouver, but I won't start working there in the long run. Instead, I'm looking for a better-paying bartender job.
Tomorrow (Monday) I'm moving from the hostel to a room that I booked through Airbnb. I'll be living there for three weeks.
That's it from me,
Good night 😴
