Luang Prabang to Otres Beach

Argitaratu: 09.11.2017

Hi dear ones,

Here we are with a new entry โœŒ๐Ÿผ

We have already arrived in Cambodia and are currently in Otres Beach, in the south of Cambodia.

From Luang Prabang, we continued to Vang Vieng. Vang Vieng is known as the party place of Laos and was quite unspectacular. However, a must-do is tubing. Tubing is floating down a shallow river in a tube, passing by countless bars. Only 2-3 bars along the route are open now, as some people in the past went full speed and unfortunately drowned.

After two days in Vang Vieng, we continued to Vientiane, the capital of Laos, where we visited a friend named Miriam who is doing an internship there. The highlights were the many delicious restaurants with a great selection. Another highlight was the Buddhapark, which is located outside of Vientiane. We also had breakfast in a rooftop bar and took a little city tour in a tuk-tuk, where we saw the main attractions of Vientiane. The Halloween party was also very interesting, especially because the tourists were dressed up very creatively. The next day, we went to the 4000 Islands in the south of Laos.

The 4000 Islands are small islands located in the Mekong River and are perfect for relaxation, as there are not many activities to do and hardly any WiFi ๐ŸŒด. Due to some bad luck with our first accommodation, where we had to share the room and the bed with cockroaches, we quickly organized our onward journey to Cambodia.

After a long bus ride and a somewhat complicated border crossing, we arrived in Phnom Penh, the capital of Cambodia, in the evening. One highly recommendable place there is the Genocide Museum. The museum is located in an old prison from the time of the genocide in Cambodia. It is very shocking and gives an insight into the terrible recent history of Cambodia.

After three days in Phnom Penh, we had some action again. We went to Kampot to the Arcadia Backpacker Hostel, which is located directly on the river and has its own water park. Definitely one of Dennis' highlights in Southeast Asia!

More about Cambodia and our last part of the trip (Thailand ๐Ÿ‡น๐Ÿ‡ญ) can be found in our last entry!

Until then, thank you for reading ๐Ÿ“– ๐Ÿ˜˜๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผ
