Today we saw the sun for the first time in Vietnam. That's why we decided to go to Fansipan despite a 700,000 Dong admission fee. Fansipan is the highest mountain in Vietnam, standing at 3143m. Thanks to the Swiss, you don't have to climb these 3143m in a multi-day tour anymore, but can comfortably be driven up in a cable car.
When we arrived at the cable car area, we had to realize that we were not the only ones with this idea. The line was huge and we only saw Asian tourists. After 1.5 hours, we finally got on the cable car.
Arriving at the top, we unfortunately had to realize that the peak didn't make it through the cloud cover. So we stood in a thick layer of fog and had to be careful not to be blown away by the wind. From the cable car to the summit, we had to climb about 660 steps.
Despite the poor visibility, it was a great feeling to stand on a mountain over 3000m. If I had known before my trip that I would end up in Sapa, I would have loved to do a multi-day tour to the summit. That must be an amazing feeling to climb a mountain over 3000m under your own power. But of course, the 660 steps must not be forgotten 😂
