17th/18th and 19th day - from Oberweißenbrunn to Bad Kissingen

Argitaratu: 19.05.2023

Hello, my dears,

the way from Oberweißenbrunn to Bad Kissingen was beautiful again! It went through incredibly great nature. Due to the accommodation situation, my feet had to cover about 35km. I would have liked to have taken more time for the beautiful nature, but I had to be at the hotel by 6 p.m. at the latest to check in.

By the way, Bad Kissingen is beautifully surrounded by forests and is also a beautiful city.

I booked myself into the hotel for 3 nights to see how the accommodation situation developed for the next few kilometers. And what can I say... It's really modest! Actually, I wanted to go to Würzburg... unfortunately I got direct cancellations for the accommodation for the first two stages/days. More than 40km a day on foot is definitely not possible. Simply skipping stages by bus or train is also difficult in the region. In addition, many inns no longer offer overnight stays or the guesthouses are completely closed. Restaurants are also often only open on weekends (actually, on my hike so far I couldn't even stop at a restaurant because it was either completely closed or only open a few days a week and very often only after 5 p.m....). Corona seems to have left very clear traces here... In addition, pilgrimages in Germany are really expensive! The prices for an overnight stay exceed the information in my travel guides by 10-20 euros. And I actually have the current editions. All of this takes away a lot from the "feeling of freedom" and the lightness of the pilgrimage.

Now there is also the fact that an authority has contacted me by letter and I actually wg. a paraphrase must go there -_-. It would probably also have been possible to send someone there by proxy... but in view of all the circumstances mentioned (and the plan to come back for a short time at the end of June anyway and only do what I really feel like doing during my time off without committing myself to anything to force) I decided today to end at least the pilgrimage in Germany here in Bad Kissingen. It was about 380km from Leipzig to Bad Kissingen :). And I had really wonderful moments on the way and hiked through breathtaking landscapes. So far it has been an incredibly great experience!

It'll probably go somewhere warm in June for a few days before the fusion starts in early July :D.

The pilgrimage will then continue in July (probably directly in France) :).

Relaxed greetings

Erantzun
