Today, no rain. Everyone slept until shortly after 8, then had a cozy breakfast, did some laundry, packed our swimwear and off to Hiddensee. First to the ferry and then to Schaprode. A bargain of 49.90€ for a trip to Hiddensee and back. Boarding the ship was typically German *annoying* - first come, first served. Why not do it like Lufthansa, prioritize diplomats, then families, and then the common people. Once again, no regard for strollers... Well, we're used to it from home. The ride took 35 minutes. We sat at the very front. Philip loved it.
We docked in Vitte and went to the beach. Jule took a nap. Well, there are worse things than sleeping to the sound of the ocean. I believe that Vitte beach is the most beautiful beach we have ever seen on the Baltic Sea. Fine, wide sandy beach, seashells, and not too crowded. Unfortunately, we were naive to think we could still get a beach chair. We ended up sitting in the shade of one. Philip was either in the water or buried in the sand. The sea felt freezing... Oh well, as long as it's the sea. The ship went back at 17:30. After the pointless attempt to get the kids sand-free into their clothes, we went back to the harbor. Mama wanted a fish sandwich but failed due to the 'nice' waitress who couldn't promise that the kitchen would handle it before the ship left. Yeah, no thanks, I can wait. The next ferry will surely come *grumble*.
Hiddensee is really worth a visit. Definitely bring a bike and tour the island. It's amazing. We'll definitely come back.
Both kids slept on the way back. We arrived at the campsite at 7:30 and put both kids CAREFULLY to bed. It's quiet for now. We actually have a parent-teacher meeting today!
Oh, I forgot about the damn mosquitoes on Hiddensee.
