Day 2: Thursday, 11th July 2019
Route: Allgäu-Vorarlberg (Sonthofen to Feldkirch)
distance covered: 97 kilometers
This morning, I had breakfast with Elisabeth and started around 8:30. Christian recommended the route via Rohrmoos, which was really beautiful. Uphill for 3-4 kilometers, then downhill.
There was one long stretch where the road was in great condition, but there were no cars. Only e-bikes, just like yesterday. That was sad. Today it was cloudy and colder, but it only drizzled occasionally. The route was very beautiful, and in Hittisau, I had already climbed most of the altitude. That's where I met Steve from New Zealand, who wanted to go to Liechtenstein but didn't know the way. We rode together for about 20 kilometers until Dornbirn. Then we separated because I really needed a break.
I kept asking for directions and eventually rode mostly along the Rhine dam until Feldkirch, which was a very beautiful route if the weather is good. At some point, I had to leave the dam to get to Wolfgang's house and took a 20-minute break.
When I arrived there, only my aunt Angi was there, but we soon went to pick up my cousin Lorenz from his forest holiday care. And Angi got lost along the way because we were talking so much. Back at home, we chatted for a long time, Angi prepared the meal in the meantime, and Lorenz played. We were supposed to have pizza, but only when Wolfgang came home from work at 7:30. And I was so hungry because I had only eaten breakfast and Manner biscuits all day, and I had ridden 97 kilometers. When Wolfgang arrived, we ate, and the pizza was amazing! Unfortunately, there was a bit too little. We also had ice cream with hot raspberries for dessert. In the evening, I had a long conversation with my uncle, whom I hadn't seen in a long time.
