Next Stop: Takayama

Yes, September is already over and so is my work at the hostel in Kanazawa. On the last evening, the entire hostel staff went to an Izakaya (Japanese bar): 2 hours all-you-can-drink, delicious food, and Japanese people talking about sex topics xD For those who don't know, sex is not exactly the number one topic in Japan. It was very fun :D

So yesterday, I worked until 15:15 and then quickly took the bus to Takayama. Takayama is about 2 hours away from Kanazawa, to the east and right next to the Japanese Alps. Takayama is not very big, but it has a well-preserved old town and lots of Western tourists! Today, I went to the old town and the temple district. Takayama is known not only for its landscape but also for Hida beef. In Japan, there are two regions for the famous beef: Kobe and Hida (Hida is the region around Takayama). That's why almost every restaurant has Hida beef on the menu and it tastes really good with rice :P But I haven't tried it as a steak yet. That's still to come
