Day 1 of the Scotland trip.
The bus left at 9:30 a.m. in the morning and after Colin and I had trouble finding the bus at the bus station, the tour began.
Our bus driver/guide was a Scot with a nice accent and a good mood. During the drive from Edinburgh to the Isle of Skye, he talked a lot, as well as on the following days.
On the way there, we made several stops to admire the beautiful landscape and other sights.
One of them was the bridge from the Harry Potter movies and we were even lucky enough to see the old steam train passing over it.
To understand the following dilemma, you have to know that Colin and I had booked accommodation through the travel provider's website. We were supposed to pay cash on site, but we didn't know exactly where we were staying. Luckily, our guide had a list of who was staying where, or where he had to drop off whom.
So our driver dropped us off at the last accommodation, a youth hostel. However, when we arrived there, we had to realize that they didn't have a room for us. Desperately, we looked at them unkindly to see if they could accommodate us there, but after several attempts, we were able to reach our guide by phone and it turned out that we had already passed the accommodation, but he had forgotten to kick us out. When we arrived there, everything was fine again, but it turned out that Colin had forgotten his bag at the youth hostel. So we had to walk back to the village for a nice 40 minutes to get the bag. But in the end, it wasn't really a big deal, because we went shopping and had dinner there.
So once again, we were lucky in our misfortune.
