PINNACLES or Pillars of the Earth

We have now arrived in the Nambung National Park, 245 km north of Perth, in the lonely desert with sandstone columns that were formed around 500,000 years ago and can reach up to 4 meters in height.

Just us, the desert as far as the eye can see, and these curious limestone formations. No people, no cars, no sound, just silence, and gigantic stone sculptures...

It would have been nice, but when I snapped out of my short daydream, I saw that an Asian couple or whole families were posing at every other one of these impressive sandstone columns, trying to take their 'most beautiful selfie'. And other tourists comfortably made their way through the desert sitting in their cars, passing by the hundred thousand year old fossils.

Disillusioning...

We set off on foot to let the columns have an effect on us and to shoot some beautiful photos - without people, behind, in front of, next to the columns. And while I was focusing on taking 'artistic valuable photos' a bit further away, Günter and Moritz had a completely different inspiration.
Günter, 'First an Australian had the idea, then we thought it was funny too, and then everyone started doing it...'
