07/11/2017 - Perfect Landing

The day started like any other - we woke up right at 7:00 am and got up. Since our backpacks were already packed except for a few things, we took the time to Skype with our family in Germany. At first, it was a little unfamiliar, but it quickly turned into an everyday conversation. It was nice to see familiar faces.

After a hearty breakfast, we loaded our backpacks at exactly 10:00 am and set off for the next accommodation.
Since we couldn't check in with the new hosts until 12:30 pm, we had to kill some time. So we found a green spot near the flower shop and relaxed on the grass. Birdsong, blue sky, and fresh New Zealand air - what more could you want?
Unfortunately, a bird decided to test its accuracy and before we knew it, its droppings were on my upper arm. After the initial shock, we burst out laughing, and hey, it's supposed to bring good luck too. ;)

At around 11:30 am, we took the bus towards Auckland City. Riding the bus with a backpack wouldn't be a problem in Germany, but in Auckland, the buses are much narrower, so we were quite a hindrance to other passengers. The Kiwis, however, remained calm. After all, they're used to tourists with their big backpacks.
When we arrived at the destination bus stop, we still had to take a train for one more stop. The regional train was surprisingly modern and perfectly on time. It was only a few minutes from Glen Innes station, our new neighborhood, to the new accommodation.
When we arrived, we were even there before the host. She came straight from work and warmly welcomed us. As we were about to enter the accommodation, we could already hear another family member... Bruno, the 10-month-old Beagle, ran towards us and almost knocked us over. We weren't expecting such a wild welcome. :)

After a brief introduction, we settled into our new home. Then we dedicated ourselves to our new SIM cards. After successfully activating them, we went to PAK'nSAVE, the New Zealand Aldi, and stocked up on groceries for the next few days.

After a delicious snack, we ended the evening peacefully.
