Today we set off to the southern corner of Istria - to Pula. The motorway was relatively empty and the toll fees were reasonable ;-) After over an hour of driving, we arrived in Pula and found a parking space right in front of the amphitheatre. Unfortunately, the parking meter only accepted coins, so we fed the machine with all our loose change and got about 3 hours of time. First, we visited the amphitheatre - very impressive - one of the largest amphitheatres built by the Romans, from the 1st century AD and still remarkably well preserved. That's why it's the landmark of Pula. Next, we went to the triumphal arch, the temple of Augustus, and the town hall or also called the forum, and finally climbed many steps up to the fortress 'Kastell' from where we had a good view. However, we didn't make it inside because our parking ticket expired and we were afraid of exorbitant fees ;-) But we had a good view of the port and saw huge cargo ships. The heat today was unbearable, but the children, especially Jette, endured it quite well and Jette was quite well-behaved. Back at the hotel, Jette was allowed to briefly go on the pirate ship with Dad :-)
