05-02-2022: Sea day and storm

Argitaratu: 06.02.2022

We are spending a day at sea. The effects of the storm are clearly felt. The ship is constantly rising and falling. Many passengers are not feeling well. The bow is closed off. It would be too dangerous to stay there.
Even the cargo ships are struggling. I don't envy anyone who has to regularly face these forces of nature.
It's always interesting to see where people live. I can't imagine living in such solitude and harsh conditions.
We pass by the Fridtjof Nansen, the newest ship of Hurtigruten. The Nansen ran aground in January during heavy seas and also leaked. Now it is waiting for a dry dock for necessary repairs.
We have to pass by Stad. This place is famous for rough seas. Even the Vikings preferred to carry their ships over land at a narrow point instead of passing the place by water. Well, that's not an option for us. In the future, an 800-meter-long tunnel will be built here at Stad for the ships. Surely a great relief for all ships.
